We are back from a trip spent with six of our favorite kids, a house full of 18 crazy Munro family members, and a busy schedule that should have been done in two weeks but was crammed into one. It was a blast. I am still sorting through pictures and can't believe that I took over 200 photos. Madi said she took about the same with her iPhone, and there were at least 4 other cameras taking pictures along with phones taking pics and video. That's how you know it was a great trip.
For Matt, the boys, and me the trip started last Friday when we drove up to Utah late at night. We picked up the 4 Munro kids on Saturday and hopped on a plane to Buffalo.
I love taking pictures out of airplane windows. The clouds and the sky look so perfect and peaceful.
We had a two hour layover in Phoenix where we had an impromptu pizza party and watched planes take off.
Yes, there was silliness.
And some people had to work.
But soon we were boarded and back on a plane to our final destination. That means...you guessed
it...more airplane window pics!
I especially love the sunset from a plane.
We landed late at night and the party got started. Aaron, Tracy, John, and Grandpa picked us up and we got into our 12 passenger church van. Yes, a church van. I am sad that I didn't think to take a picture of it. It looked like this though...
It was a huge, silver, slice of awesomeness and we filled that baby up.
Yes, please.
We had a late night dinner at Mighty Taco (for the record, this was the very beginning of the trip when I was adamant to eat clean all week despite the amounts of greasy, tasty, fattening foods presented before me... so I had a chicken salad.) We arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's house and got settled while being giggly and rambunctious until the early morning.
While unpacking, Griffin found Grandma's very nice winter coat. He just about died because he was sure that it was a Star Wars robe.
Use the force, Grandma.
The next day we went to church. We were all tired, but grateful to be together as a family. It was a great day. After church, we ate lunch and played games.
Sweet Madi and Ryan even made a yummy treat for Grandpa and Gavin while they played checkers. I mean, who doesn't enjoy toothpaste filled Oreo cookies?
Pranks were in full force on this trip. Food coloring on toothbrushes, salt in water glasses, mayo filled cream donuts, fake dog poo, snapping gum, shocking pens....so crazy. I don't have a picture of Gavin after he ate the cookie, or when Ryan ate one to prove nothing was wrong with them, but both expressions were similar to this:
On Monday we went to Brookfield Country Club to go swimming and to have lunch. It was perfect weather.
After swimming, Grandpa took us to Niagara Falls.
Caden was always good for a hand holding moment. Such a sweet guy.
The falls were beautiful on the American side and the Canadian side was breathtaking.
Gavin snuck away with Grandpa quite often. Grandpa had some really great moments with all the kids individually.
We took a ride on the Maid of the Mist to get up close to the Canadian side. We were drenched from the mist coming off of the falls.
I think the best moment for me was when Matt leaned over to me and said, "After seeing this, how could someone NOT believe in a God?"
Simply perfect.
On Tuesday we toured some historic sites very special to our family. We wore our red reunion shirts and every where we went people commented on them. You could not miss our group.
.
And that gets us through Tuesday. To be continued. :)
