She as been such a wonderful dog for the last 11 and a half years. She has been so patient with babies, children, and other dogs. She is aging quickly all of a sudden and it makes me a little sad. Her eyesight is going, you can see how hazed her pupils are from cataracts. Her hearing is almost gone. There are days that she doesn't notice that we've come home from being gone and just keeps sleeping. She's scared us when she didn't get up. Matt and I both have walked over and shook her to make sure she was just sleeping. What a relief when she was!
Her tummy is sensitive. She get nauseous a lot. (ooh and the GAS!) Tiki sleeps almost all day and her fur is so white now. I worry about her sometimes. Still she has such a sweet disposition and is never grumpy. She loves to lay on the cool tile and bask in the sun from the window.
She still has a lot of spunk in her. Especially since losing a ton of weight. She plays with our puppy, Samson, every morning. Her daily little walks around the neighborhood make her so happy (Sam gets 1 to 3 miles a day, Tiki gets a little block because her arthritis is so bad!). And if there's a chance of sneaking out, she will and she bolts! She truly has 9 lives and has been lost and found multiple times.
Still she is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever had and she has been a permanent fixture in our home. The boys don't remember not having her and even their older brother and sister, Josh and Stephanie, grew up with her. We all love this old girl so much.
Thanks, little Tiki for being such a great part of our family. We hope you stay with us for a few more years!
