june fun.

What a great summer it has been so far. Yes, I am still deeply enamored with the slower pace and the warm weather. We are still getting a lot done, though! Now that the boys are back from vacation with their dad, we have settled into a great routine. Our mantra has been "mornings are for getting things done, and afternoons are for having fun". The boys have chores to do every morning, some reading and learning time, time for a skill drill (whatever task or goal they are currently working on), exercise, and then they are free to play for the rest of the day. While this is going on I work on my real estate business, then home duties, then I too am free!

Earlier this month we celebrated my birthday by going to lunch and then having a little pool party. I haven't had a swim party since I was 12 years old! We swam and laid by the pool all day. It was perfect! My mom, the boys, Ashley and Amy all helped me celebrate. Friends and family stopped by to drop off gifts and cards throughout the day and I received so many texts and emails and calls. I just felt pretty darn loved. It was the best birthday I've ever had.

We celebrated Father's Day all weekend long starting with a late night dinner Saturday at Yard House, then church Sunday morning, a lazy Sunday afternoon, and a little family party that night. Matt said that this was the BEST Father's Day he has ever had! Do you sense a theme here? :) His highlight of course was hearing from his kiddos who called to wish him a happy father's day.
We had a fun little party and the boys loved being gift givers as well as giving Matt lots of hugs and love all evening. Jeb and Griffin adore their dad,but they also adore their step dad. We are so lucky to have Matt. He is an amazing step dad that loves them like his own. Matt's favorite gift? A new iron. He cracks me up!
Man, oh man, I love summertime.
